Christopher Radcliff is the go-to guy if you’re ever in the Lower East Side and don’t know where to find the best Ramen shop. Chris totally knows and he’ll immediately text you back with the details. It’s this discerning taste that figures into his storytelling; Chris innately knows what is cool. And creepy. He is obsessed with Nicki Minaj and his favorite TV show of all time is Roseanne. These facts may seem a bit disparate but if you work with Chris, it kinda makes a lot of sense. There’s a mystery to both him and his films and, like intuition, we’re not sure we really want to know how they all work. In his triptych on adolescence--Stranger, The Strange Ones, and Jonathan’s Chest--Christopher has been exploring the secretive adn often traumatic landscapes of being a youthful male in the modern world. Born outside of Pittsburgh, Chris has always thought the suburbs a little weird (and definitely scary) and his work undoubtedly reflects that.
